Sourcing naturally very dark, tropical woods, such as Brazilian Cherry, Cuban Mahogony or Marbau, has ethical implications. Finding a renewable source complying to the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) will be very difficult as sourcing tropical timbers threatens valuable habitats and rare species. Osmo’s Thermo-Wood plankwood flooring offers a stunning alternative and, because Osmo use common, domestic timbers, it also employs the principles of sustainable forestry.
Plankwood flooring from Osmo is the very best class of parquet flooring with a 3-ply structure for stability. Osmo offers an extensive range of plankwood flooring including four extremely attractive Thermo-Wood options. The Thermo-Wood treated wood retains its original structure, but with a reduced moisture content, so the natural shrinking or swelling of wooden floors is also halved. This is particularly useful when used in conjunction with energy efficient, warm water under-floor heating systems.
Steve Grimwood, Managing Director of Osmo UK comments: “Wood is the ideal material for use within both commercial and residential environments. Through relentless research, development and innovation, Osmo has succeeded in putting together a truly revolutionary brand of products that aim to be as environmentally safe and friendly as possible. Thermo-Wood flooring is warm in colour, but because it is ideal for homes with underfloor heating it can warm in even the coldest winter.” Osmo UK is sensitive to the issue of deforestation and supplies a wide range of high quality solid and engineered flooring systems. Every home is different and Osmo wooden flooring is available in a range of sizes, timbers and styles. Osmo wooden floors are all available pre-treated with Osmo PolyxOil, a natural and hardwearing protective oil that is virtually solvent free and made from organic, natural ingredients such as linseed oil, candelilla wax and thistle oil.
Osmo Thermo-Wood Plankwood flooring is available from Osmo stockists and flooring specialists nationwide. OSMO UK supplies a wide range of interior and exterior, high quality wood products and a range of specialist finishes. The company operates a policy of only supplying products which are both safe and environmentally friendly. This has resulted in the successful certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001 (quality management) and DIN EN ISO 14001 (environmental management) by the TÜV (Technical Control Board) Rhineland.
