I know a bit slow at the moment Ron. I have been busy rough turning some blanks. These are from the beech logs that I got the other week I had sealed them as soon as I got them and now have got around to roughing them out still need to rough turn the spindle blanks you see in the photo.

Hi Ron / Derek -- I was thinking the same thing but I suppose as guilty as anyone just viewing and not posting.

I do look in every day.

Ron they will not be ready for a while as you can see from the one on the right it is still very wet. There is another one not in the photo which I have had in the airing cupboard for three days. No splitting on it however the bowl in the second pile from the right has two 1/2" splits which I have turned out.

Having started this thread I thought I would put a couple of recent items on it.

We are having a competition in the club in June, a bowl with at least three different types of fruit, so far I have the bowl and three plums!

I made this chair for a friend, the occupant is not quite ready to sit in it yet as she is only a few months old.

I will put the fruit on if ever and whenever I finish them

Ron

The bowl is built up in sections the top is segmented, two layers of six pieces each, not up to Dennis's standard! both the top and base were stuck on a sacrificial piece of ply. I drilled 24 holes in the bottom layer of the top and in the base, added the top layer and turned it to a finish, parted off the top from its ply and glued in 24 9mm dowels.

When the glue had cured I set about weaving most of a skein of sea grass in to the dowels. Between one and a half and two hours later I finished the weaving.

Thanks for the comments

Ron

Great bowl Ron. Nothing wrong with only a few segments. From the original question, like Derek, I look in every day, although mostly when I'm at work (not supposed to use company PCs for any kind of private surfing sad). It's really only at the weekends that I get a chance to post anything much.
