not long ago I was asked if I would have a look at a friends lathe as he was having a problem with it. I took the lathe head stock home and before long found the problem and repaired it. my friend asked how much so I told him nothing as it cost me nothing and was glad to help. last week he brought me a turning blank of acacias so I set to and turned it to se what I could get out of it. here is the finished bowl.

the bowl is 8x3 and power sanded through all the grits to 600 grit and is then finished with 1 coat of sand sealer and 2 coats of finishing oil wiped on and wiped off after about 3 mins to soak in.

all comments welcome.

Lovely bowl & some smashing looking timber Dennis.

You`ve done well to keep all the bark on, was the blank still a little green?

Doug.

Well done Dennis you can't beat the good old Barter. I am surprised you have not turned your own eggs.

hi Ian, Dough and Derek

thank you for your comments. a small amount of the bark came of but I had to protect the rest with super glue. Derek as for the eggs I do turn my own but for the photos the marble ones look good.

I should imagine that the way you turn Dennis that you eggs would look much better if you made them

Gorgeous bowl! Great shape and like those awesome grains and figures on beautiful wood which really pop with the great finish. Excellent turning piece!
