Fluted Sycamore bowl

I turned this bowl mainly for a chance to try out a new Microplane I recently bought, I chose Sycamore as it was the softest timber I had, unfortunately not far in I found a long crack which made for interesting turning.

Still I`m pleased with the results & will be trying this type fluting again.

hi Doug

this is a very good bowl I think the fluting and the crack ad to the character of this bowl. what finish have you used on this and what size is it.

Well done on the fluting Doug and as Dennis says the crack adds character. A nice piece of wood as well

Thanks for the compliments chaps.

The bowl is 5" wide x 3" high & was finished with carnauba wax on a buffing wheel.

Beautiful bowl! The fluting adds interest and the wood has pretty grains and figures including the crack. Great turning piece!
