I turned this bowl mainly for a chance to try out a new Microplane I recently bought, I chose Sycamore as it was the softest timber I had, unfortunately not far in I found a long crack which made for interesting turning.

Sycamore spalted bowl

Still I`m pleased with the results & will be trying this type fluting again.

Cheers.

Well done on the fluting Doug and as Dennis says the crack adds character. A nice piece of wood as well

Thanks for the compliments chaps.

The bowl is 5" wide x 3" high & was finished with carnauba wax on a buffing wheel.

Cheers.

Doug.

Beautiful bowl! The fluting adds interest and the wood has pretty grains and figures including the crack. Great turning piece!
