craft fair turnings

well it is that time again craft fair heven. i have not only been turning for the up and coming craft fairs we have also got our club craftsman open compertition next week. i have been experimenting with a few bits and have finaly got a compertition entry done to i hope a good standard. here are photos of some of the itoms done.

this bowl is made from oak and porana pine.

this bowl was my first atempt at the bowl but the spindles dident turn out as good as i wanted and dident sit down as i wanted

this is my first attempt at a bunch of grapes.

hi Dennis, you have turned out some beautiful work. I really like your competition piece and I am sure the judges will too. I think your grapes look good enough to eat! well done indeed and good luck.

thank you for the compliments the grape stem is an actual stem from a bunch of grapes salvaged from the bin when the wife was not looking. the competition is next Wednesday so will try and get photos of all entries and also 1,2 and third places. the bowl is made in 2 parts and then joined with 8 spindles it is sanded down to 12000 grit and finished with a finishing oil. the oil was wiped on and left for about 5 mins to soak in and then buffed of ready for a 2ND coat .this left the bowl a nice mat shean .
