This is the first real carving that I have done(I did not count the horse)

Have just completed a very small Relief carving of a flower following the one on Mary May''s website.

I would appreciate any constructive feed back good or bad. It is only a small one done purely for practice the size is 4" X 3" done on a piece from the scrap box, I certainly learned a few things just on this small carving including how to keep the tools sharp.

Mind you there is still alot to learn like most things in woodworking

Looks good to me Derek. Looks like oak to me - quite a challenge for a first I reckon?
Did you carve it all or did you remove the bulk outside of the flower with a router?

Thanks all

Dave it took 3 days off and on about 3 hours a day

Richard no I used the chisels to lower the ground. Not Oak but a scrap of mahogany

Medims it was the technique that was the learning curve
