Hi,

I am trying to find a supplier or just the correct name for the screw thread part you would use to join to pieces of dowel rod. I am making a set of bar skittles and want to be able to collapse the tall ball mounting post for storage.

Thanks

Paul

Try a car boot sale for a well used snooker cue, the brass fitting where the cue is dismantled should do the trick

You may find them in B & Q called Dowel Pins. Screw end both sides. Make sure you get them exactly centered and driss a pilot hole,

Hi Paul,

As brian has said, a dowel screw is what you are looking for. Screwfix have them in different diameters - 8mm here: http://www.screwfix.com/p/machine-thread-to-wood-thread-dowel-screws-m8-x-75mm-pack-of-10/11850

cheers,
Andy

Thanks Andy, I guess I use either tee nuts or insert nuts to join with them

Paul, nut inserts are better than tee nuts.
