Five days ago decided to get on with the rocking horse I started last year, I had stopped working on this as many know due to a mini stroke but since then have not been able to get back into this build. Think I just needed a push, anyway just after starting back on it I had four people ask about it
( and not one of them knew I had restarted)
. How spooky.

This is now the stage I am at all carving complete still some minor blemishes to sort out which the undercoat has highlighted. Have placed it in the spare bedroom today for safety as I am now waiting for the mane and eyes to turn up(within the next week ).
This means then that all cut outs for these can be done and the mounting points on the legs.
Hopefully get on with the rocker assemble in the mean time

Beautiful piece of work Derek. It (he/she?) looks as though it's carved from a solid piece of marble. How will you finish it, paint or what? Look forward to the final result.

That really is beautiful Derek. I can't imagine how many hours must have gone into that but a lot I will bet? As has been stated you have got a nice finish on it.

Superb Derek, looking forward to the finished "Steed".

It must be a stallion Simon, looking at those nostrils, you can almost see and hear the steamy vapour being blown out.

Keep it up Derek.

Bill.

Bill, my wife breeds Dartmoor ponies (sorry, moneypits), so the bit about the steamy vapour is all too familiar, although it's not always from the nostrils!!!!!

Derek, have you given this neddy a name yet, or is that a job for the lucky recipient?

I'll leave that too the lucky person. Not decided who to give it to yet.

Just out of interest all rocking horses are either geldings or mares

Yes I see, geldings or mares, they use less wood.
What a great job this is Derek. Good luck with the painting it is quite a challenge unless of course you are gifted in the arty stuff. Cant wait to see the finishe article.
Malc.
