I have been busy recently with making deckchairs! A little unusual but still it's work. It is a commision for 10 deckchairs with arms fitted. I am working on these in between my other jobs although it did take a bit of working out the mechanics for them to fold. Anyway here is a photo of a dry fit of the first one.

Thanks guys. I won't be able to show the completed item as the customer is fitting the material for the seat herself. Apparently she sells them at shows around the country. I shall see if I can get her to take some pics of them once they are complete. I am using beech for the frames fatboy. The mechanics took some working out but now the first one is finished I have a set of templates for the rest of the builds.

It's good to see you are still busy. Another how of your workmanship keep it coming.

Just a little thought on the legs at the bottom will you be rounding them off to prevent the bottoms from splitting out when the chairs are scraped along the ground

Thanks Derek. Yes I intend to chamfer the ends of the legs for just that reason. I didn't think of it until I had assembled it and then realised I should have done that.

Will this be an on going contract ? I presume she will sell more than this one.

Cheers.

I finished all ten of the deckchairs today. All they need now is the fabric attaching and whatever finish the lady is going to put on them. I have enjoyed doing these, just something out of the ordinary.
