Two pens made from the strips I cut off the Eucaliptus Burr I brought. The one above is an Executive Sierra pen and the other is a Baron pen

Excellent Derek.

I've often wondered about buying from Australia and/or America, do you buy enough to counteract the postage.

Gordon sorry I don't know the answer but if you start a new thread with a title to match you may find that people will see it a little better.

Hi Derek.

Lovely pens as usual, that burr is very striking.

I, like Bill, would be interested in hearing how you find shopping on line from Australia & how our £ compares to their $.

Cheers.

At the moment 1 GBP = 1.5 AUD approx.

I bought some specialist software some years ago, at that time 80 AUD worked out at £50 but it was a download so no postage, thats the killer.

More excellent examples Derek. I particularly like the Sierra pen. Like Baz & Bill, I would like to know the comparative costs as well. BTW, your photos always show off your work really well. Do you do anything special for lighting etc?

I see that Timberbits only charge $12AUD (about £8) to ship to the UK for orders under $200AUD, which I reckon is pretty cheap when you compare with some of our local UK charges.

I found that when I brought these that even with the postage that it is definitely worth the wait for them to arrive. Just remember that you need to keep it under the duty limit.
You will have to look around to see what prices things are now as this was one that i got a little while back. Sorry for not being able to help any more than this

Simon
No special equipment just a camera and a white sheet a good bright day but not in direct sun light as this will cast to many shadows. You could always make a light tent from 3/4" overflow pipe and a white sheet and a couple of lamps placed on the outside so as to shine through the sheet cutting down on the shadows. This is only really for small items.
If you do take a photo of your work and don't have the bits and bobs find a surface and clear all other things around and a surface which is plain in colour or very little pattern, you don't want people to look at everything around the item you are showing
