the bowl is 8 3/4 x5 1/2 " in size. i must admit this was intended to be a vase but when i got it to this size and shape and i liked it the way it is so hens the bowl.
there are 244 segments to it and took 16 hours to make.

thank you mate will have to concentrate on my demo piece now get it all sanded and glued up to a point ready to turn at the club. it will grieve me to leave it to the side and not turn it. it is going to be a vase come lidded box. i know i can for see the out come and will show you all when it is finished. i am also getting a oak fruit bowl to turn as well just in case i have more time than i need for doing the box.

![]() Moderator 3219 forum posts 1004 photos | You been buying your wood in bulk Dennis the way you keep knocking these out.
The only thing to spoil this is the segment that is discoloured on the inside just below the pattern. I bet you didn't see that until to late |

thank you both.
Derek i have the good fortune to be able to get the timber from a trade supplier that keeps all the offcuts to the side for sail at a reasonable price. the last time i went i got 56 lengths of 8 ft x2"x 1/2 for £10 all planned and only a few fault. the Flore in that bit is character not a fault . that's what i think any way.

thank you for your comments.
the more i am doing the easier they are getting still making silly mistakes though. i have just been thinking i may turn my demo piece just to see if it will work out as i haven't don this shape or style before.i have got all the segments cut and sanded. some of the rings glued up but still got a lot of work to do.
