Hi All

This is a jewellery box made from ripple sycamore with Indian rosewood trays and lined in yellow suede. The lid consists of 22 pieces of ripple sycamore veneer laid out in a stepped pattern and the middle pieces are running in a different direction to show of the design. The lid is bordered with black acetal with polyester inlays. The hardware is good quality nickel and it has an ebony and aluminium escutcheon. It will be on display at the Designyard gallery in Dublin.cheersIan

Beautiful box Ian.
I think the yellow velvet suits the light colour of the box
rather than the usual green.

Hello Ian,  Gobsmacking box Ian both in design and execution. Well done. The recipient of this should consider herself very fortunate indeed.   Cheers   Alan T.

Hi Ian, I was only looking at your company website last week and you have some impressive and amazing designs, all with suede in lays! Wow, it certainly gave me some design inspiration, some serious prices as well! - fantastic all the same!

AS box-making is my main woodworking interest I'm always drawn toward things like this. It's beautifully conceived and executed.

Morning Dave

Many thanks for your kind words - of course you could make this its just knowing how to avoid the problems in advance.

You can get the hardware direct from me http://hawthornecrafts.com/HC/hardware.html

I have 2 types of hinges depending on your budget and a lock or sliding catch.

Cheers
