Brilliant Derek
Good Luck with the new lathe - makes my old Coronet look a bit sick!
Can you tell us where you got the pen kit - it looks better than any I have found so far?

Thanks all for the comments
Ralph this is the first wood turning lathe with variable speed and just doing the pen I noticed the difference not having to fiddle about changing the belt for speed changes.
Oddjob I got the pen kit from Turners Retreat. You asked about the lathe in another thread and the first impressions are good. One point as above ref the variable speed and the second I noticed how quite this is compared to my other lathe
George have answered as above but really need more time to give a full assessment

Hi all, as a novice at this turning lark ( got my lathe about 5 weeks ago) I have had great fun creating loads of shavings and dust on my lathe, also managed a coupple of pens and a candlestick, but this thread has made me wonder   if you guys know of good suppliers of pen kits and accessories. I don't mind spending the money but am looking for reassurance of quality as it is difficult to judge these things on the internet.
so has any one got some good (or bad) experiences  of getting pen kits that they would like to share ?

Hi Chris, I see that you have yet to fill in your profile, this would help in knowing roughly where you live. If you live anywhere Bury St Edmunds you will be welcome to join the Bury Wood Turning Club. Otherwise look on the AWGB web site and you will find a club near you where I am sure you will recieve helpful advice and guidance.
Good luck with the turning, I made a light pull when I started, my daughter asked why didn't I make something bigger, I said it was bigger when I started!
