Toy I spotted on Holiday

Hi Guys

We've been in Cornwall and visited a place called Cotehele near Saltash (well worth a visit - has a mill with wheelwright's shop etc).
 
Anyway in one of the rooms I saw this toy - must be around 1930s 1940s. I've googled it and no-one seems to know who this guy was other than he seems to be a Danish architect.
 
Thought you might be interested in the pics.  It's a sort of wooden meccano and my grandson hs something similar in plastic now.
