This is a first for me always made open type bowls. This is made from a piece of Chestnut I acquired and is about 6" diameter

Thanks Sparky
Just trying to get some feed back as this is the first of this type.
I have had feed back elsewhere and one comment is that the foot area could have been a little narrower, and the more I look at it the better I can understand the comment

Perhaps a foot print the size of the hole at the top would bring it symmetrical but, picture doesn't show the base all that well.....I still like this version, its well balanced in my view.

The shape looks alright to me, if you had made the base smaller it would completely change the shape, good effort  was it on the new lathe??

Evening Derek
I have to say that I like it . My personal taste is more traditional , but I like the cleanliness and crispness of the Bowl . I cant say I dislike the base as it does look good and proportioned well .  I like the finish too , very clean and honest piece .
kind regards Sam

Very nice piece it has a very clean neat look to it, well turned and a good finish too.
I would have to agree to the smaller foot idea though, none the less a very nice piece
