Hi Marc

was the pine hard to turn in end grain? i really like the finish you got out of it. what did you use to finish with? also, what profile hollowing tool did you use?

i have access to lots of pine and saligna in round form, after seeing this i might give them a go.

regards

vaughn

Vaughn & Ralph

Please forgive me as I hadn't seen these posts.

The pine was a bugger to turn until I used a sharper chisel, Found out I had been using the wrong bevel and once sharpened the right way, it cut very well.

Finish was Carnauba wax after a good deal of sanding..outside was OK but, with that grain on the inside, it gave a few problems........80 grit, 100, 120, 180,240 & 320.......got there in the end.

Chisel was a 3/4" bowl gouge.

Thanks mate

Marc
