Hello

The article in January's issue by Ralph Laughton (Perfect Proportions) refers to the use of a router guide called Accurate Guide for cutting housings, which appears a great way to cut well-fitting housings.

I believe it's an American made tool, but cannot locate it on the net.

Does anyone  know if it's still available, and if so, where it can be bought?

Or is there a similar tool available, or indeed a design for a home-made version (Ron Fox?)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hi Bill and welcome to this site's forum.

If you want to know how to make one yourself, have a look at our Ben video Part 1 of Ben Plewes' Tool Cabinet Build in our TV section and your see his in action.

We had a thread about it >> here << if you didn't see it before.

Part 2 & 3 are also on the TV section...

Good luck and I hope to see your progress in your album.

Marc

Hi Bill. I am not sure what you mean by the Accurate guide but I have this one I use for housings that I built myself.

It works by placing the shelf in the centre and adjusting the sides to just hold it. The base plate of the router is then run along the raised edge and the cutter cuts along the inner edge giving a perfect fit. HTH.

Hi Bill,
Welcome to the forum!

Roger Phebey was bringing these in a few years back but i'm not sure if he's still doing them.
Might be worth giving him a call to see - his website is www.woodworkersworkshop.co.uk and shows the accurate guide in the menu, but the link doesn't seem to work.
tel:  0845 165 9244

hope this helps

Andy

Hi Mailee and Andy

Thanks for your quick responses - I'll certainly call Woodworkers workshop, however Mailee's home-made jig  maybe the answer - I presume it's made from mdf?

Many thanks.
