This piece of Oak came from Killkenny castle Ireland which was renovated in 1992. It came from a wing of the castle which had not had major renovation and is believed to be a piece of the original wood that has been there since the castle was built in 1135 ad. My problem is what do i do with it. dimensions are 1100 long 230 deep and 60mm thick

You certainly have a bit of history there!  There must be a use that doesn't require it to be mutilated too much - I hope.  I can't immediately think of anything but I'll keep trying.  I'm sure that some of the very imaginative members we have here will come up with something.

A base to keep it upright, a shelf on top to make a plinth. You might whant to add another piece behind it to increase the 60mm.  This could make a fasinating conversation piece of contempory funiture,  put a lamp, sculpture or something like that on it.
A virtually non destuctive idea?
