Al, it scored only 2/5 in both value and performance; the main gripe being that it doesn't cut very well. You might be better off looking for a second-hand old Record (?) on eBay.

What about a rerun on sections in issues gone by, as not everyone knew of or got any of the old magazines.............you could list what was in certain issues and then we (members) could vote on here for what could be in next issue...........just a thought

Hello Ben,

I did suggest to Good Wood a while ago that a series on glues and adhesives would be good but I suspect it got lost in various changes.

I'm totally bewildered by all the different glues that are available - all are fantastic and stick a wide range of everything to everything - and I don't know which to believe. By the time I've found out it's too late!

Virtually all of the articles make barely a passing reference to what glue was used. Even if it's "PVA" - what sort? Are they actually all the same?

I'm not wildly bothered about _what_ people make, I want to know _how_ they made it.

Regards Ant

Hi Ant, Keith Smith recently did a two part article on adhesives in The Woodworker so we certainly have some quality material in the archive. Thanks again to all for the suggestions so far. Ben

Hello Ben,

Thankyou - when was this, did I blink and miss it perhaps? I've only been taking GW for a year at most.

Regards Ant

Ant, it was in The Woodworker, not Good Woodworking. That's probably why you missed it. Ben

Hello Ben,

Ah, right - that's an overlap I wasn't aware of... The request stands, then, if you're looking for article ideas. It's the sort of thing that would stand regular revisiting probably, not only for new readers but for those of us who don't use enough to be able to develop any experience. Many of your articles feature workshops that make us ordinary mortals drool but I'd bet most of us don't have that much luck, space or opportunity.

Regards Ant

Ben, is the magazines limited to the number of pages for print?

How about an article on alternitave chucking methods Screw and faceplate are great and cheap whilst other chucks are expensive there is still hot  glue or even the old PVA & Paper, but not many articles compare all of them !

How about looking from a different viewpoint not what is best no matter the cost rather turning on a shoe string which most beginers have to ? and add to later. not all the "better"  turners can afford the best either !

The same could be said of a lot of "Essential kit" ?

Ralph
