|Both the tools look very nice Mike - bet they work well too. There's a profound pleasure in making yur own tools, and I think, sadly, it's going to be one that's enjoyed by fewer and fewer woodworkers. I've made a few - mostly marking tools and clamps - but I've haven't yet tackled a plane. Might just be the inspiration I need!|

Go for it, Phil who made the plane in the picture had a series of articles in the Woodworker about the process. Not sure which issues but I'm sure somone might know.

Beautiful tools Mike and if making them is what gives you satisfaction then who would deny it to you? I wish I had the ability (perhaps I have) and patience (definitely haven't) to demonstrate this kind of talent and love of antiquity. I'll bet you used modern tools to make them though even if they weren't beautiful!
