Good evening,

Currently looking for some Forstner bits but it seems a bit of a minefield, they seem to be either cheap as chips or you need a bank loan to buy a set and not 100% certain what is good.

I am looking for something mid range as don’t have tip end money at the minute, all advice welcome.

I bought a set of Record Fortnser bits and they are OK for hobby use. Don't be too dissmissive of cheap ones I have a set twety five years old and still workable.

Look on youtube for some excellent videos on how to sharpen one

Just as Ron says don't be put off, I bought a set from a local builders merchants

nearly 15 years ago, very cheap, still going strong, I have no trouble in keeping

them sharp.

I have a clarke's set that has seen some great service and still going strong When I brought them they were a stop gap and as each size wore out I was going to replace with better quality. But as I ststed they are still going

Thank you for all the advice I think I will just buy a cheap ish set to get me going and see how I fair with them, but as you have all said if sharpened or should I say kept sharp I may well get just as good a life out of them as you have all had.

Thanks again
