thanks Dennis, will keep an eye out Broke my finger doing this one, had a huge catch an slammed my hand into the lathe bed lol, couldn't hold a chisel for over a week eek.

ouch you have to be very carful doing the likes of this turning. it gets you a bit apprehensive when you go back to it. glad you finished it then.

Yes got it finished thankfully but was a little frightened going back to it especially when doing the hollowing of the side walls/wings, very very easy to get a catch.

Ouch I bet that hurt. A lovely bowl and so lucky to find such a nice piece of burr

Thanks Derek, it was definitely worth the pain. Yes I am very lucky as I live in the countryside surrounded by woods and farms and have gained permission from the landowners to take any storm fallen timber I need, can get lots and lots of Oak, I have also found helping friends and neighbours to rid their gardens of unwanted trees (chainsaw jobs) is a great source of free timber. In addition I can now get ancient 6000yr old large roots from a peat bog although I am having trouble identifying the lovely wood. I'll post another thread for it
