Thread: Some advice please

Hello guys

I am planning to build a 9 draw dresser cabinet. I have made the drawings. For the pannels what size planks should I use. I have 3/4" thick boards, if I use them wont it make it very heavy and bulkier. Should I thickness them to say 10 mm.

I am not going to route the pannes to some style ( roman ogee for example). I want to rabbet them all around and give a small reveal.

Your expert advice will be of great help

Cheers

Andrew.

Thread: Bandsaw Speed
26/12/2008 20:08:00

I recently bought a bandsaw which has 2 sppeds 330 rpm and 800 rpm. However switching one from the other is bit of a pain. Currently I use 330 rpm (factory setting). My questions is when can I use 800 rpm. I fiend 330 rpm cuts fine for my kind of furniture making job. Any comments or advice welcome. Thanks.

18 metres of American cherry, about 6 inch wide and 3/4"thick boards , british hardwoods give me a quote of about 210£. Is this a reasonable amount to pay for this material.

Any advice please

I am making bedside tables out of american white oak. I am planning to finish it with danish oil. I want to seal the pores with some sort of sealer. What can I use before using danish oil to get the wood to a top class smooth finish. Your expert opinion will help.

Thanks

Thread: Help with Routers

Hello there

Need some help in upgradiing my router.

I will start by explaing the current problem i have with my Bosch 1200 1/4" DIY router.  I fix the router to the required height for routing (in my Wolfcraft diy router table), after few runs, the bosch tends to slip down slowly ruining the depth setting. In other words, the clamp thingy in the Bosch DIY router is not robust in holding the router through out the cutting process.

Now i am want to upgrade to a 1/2" DeWalt 625 or Trend T11 router, will they have any problem like that. I am a bit scared to put in that much money to have the same problem allover again.

any advice or help will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
