|Thread: Just a newbie saying Hi|
Bill - it's GWOCGB we're affiliated to, our branch being Alba Wings.
Only used a small gouge for the curves & angles, ans the tip of my parting tool for the lines.
I was mainly on the Herbert, making parts for oil rigs, until I had an accident (other long story) which kinda put a fear into me. Took many years to get over it.
Mailee - Thanks. I try not to stick with 'conventional' shapes with the scrolling.
The more unusual I can get it to look, the more I tend to like the end result.
Hi Bill. More kind words (I'm starting to really like this forum. hehe)
The bike was made for the Gold Wing club I'm a member of, and used in a charity raffle.
Went down well, with lots of tickets sold and money raised for a good cause.
My metal turning ended around 15 or so years ago, used Capstan & Herbert Lathes.
Glad to see the back of the Herbert - it was a monster of a machine.
My wood turning, up to now, has been mainly getting used to the tools.
However, I did make these small teak keyrings from a scrapped off-cut.
Thanks Ron. Very kind words.
Still a little rough on the finishing side, but as I do more I'll certainly post them.
Added a few more pics in my gallery of other bits n bobs I've done, not just on the scroll saw.
Only been at woodwork for just over a year, so improving as I go along.
Just thought I'd pop in n say hi.
Relatively new to woodworking, but a metal turner to trade so very into learnig wood turning.
Like to dabble with the scroll saw to make little ring/trinket boxes, and keen on furniture making.
Have added a pic of a couple of my efforts with the scroll saw so far (not the greatest, but I'll only get better).
