Thread: Ron Fox
29/11/2013 22:47:08

I was wondering if anyone from the magazines could confirm the report that Ron has very sadly passed away?

I was fortunate to have met him many years ago & he was a very nice bloke, if the report I read is true it will be a very sad loss to the woodworking fraternity.

Cheers.

Thread: Tale of Woe,

It would appear that both his web site & forum are not available, I don`t know if this is a consequence of the troubles intelligent workshop is having.

Ivor, you are not alone in having trouble with orders from Intelligent Workshop, there have been posts on other forums in this regard.

If you paid by credit card then I suggest you get in touch with them to get your money back, as if what has been posted elsewhere is true the company company could be in trouble.

Thread: Fluted Sycamore bowl
22/11/2013 19:51:39

Thanks for the compliments chaps.

The bowl is 5" wide x 3" high & was finished with carnauba wax on a buffing wheel.

I turned this bowl mainly for a chance to try out a new Microplane I recently bought, I chose Sycamore as it was the softest timber I had, unfortunately not far in I found a long crack which made for interesting turning.

Sycamore spalted bowl

Still I`m pleased with the results & will be trying this type fluting again.

Just in case anyone wants some router matting, I bought 2 pieces 1400x300mm each from Turners Retreat 2 for £5. I believe the offer is still on.

Hi Dennis.

I shall be going on the Sunday as I`m hoping to meet up with a few friends from a pen turning forum, it would be good to meet up with you & any others from Get Woodworking who are thinking of going.

I`m not really looking for anything in particular though I`m sure something will tempt me, usually on the Ashley Iles stand face 21.

Cheers.

Doug.
