Many thanks for that, this is the way that I was going to fit the new ones but rather than use oval nails I was going to glue in wooden dowel pins to fix the t&g to the rails. Not sure what your thoughts are on this ? Julian

Thread: Router table set up

Hi David, I have two Erbauer 1/2" routers and the one attached to the table is exactly as Ron describes, cable tie and NVR switch. Julian

Thread: Electrical wiring help
23/10/2014 19:27:24

Hi Andrew, If your Table Saw is double insulated and does not require an earth then it doesn't matter. That said it is definitely not good practice to wire the wrong way round as a lot of safety devices are balanced between the neutral and earth so it could cause problems under fault conditions. I would wire correctly after consulting the manual as a matter of course. Julian

Hi Mailee -- Nice looking Gate, funnily enough I have been asked to make a few garden gates as well but not being a pro in this area I have just been fixing the lower panel into a rebate with some pins. Although the timber is well sealed against the weather I was wondering how it should be done professionally so that there is no water collection point at the base of the gate.

Thread: Thank you Axminster
23/09/2014 13:26:12

Hi Dennis -- Tuesday 13:23 and just finished bolting down and fitting together. The wife has to put up with odd thing staying overnight, we are both involved in so many activities that we are as bad as each other.drill press 2.jpg

Back in the February Woodworker there was a competition to win a couple of Pillar Drill Presses supplied by Axminster Tools, well imagine my surprise when on Friday I had a phone call from a girl at Axminster telling me that I was the lucky winner of the Hobby Series Floor mounted drill press. Well it arrived today a bit battered around the lid but otherwise ok, I have straightened the metalwork so the lid now fits again and looking for a space in the workshop to fit it (job for tomorrow). So thank you Woodworker and Axminster Tools.pillar drill.jpg

Thread: teak square bowl
09/06/2014 19:36:07

Dennis -- Glad you take it in good humour as it's meant, I do like the bowl and did have a go at turning one after looking at this post first time around, I had a piece of walnut given to me that was about the right size and got the gouges razor sharp but there was so much tearout on the end grain that I gave up on it. I will try again though with a piece of sycamore or something similar just to see how it turns out. Hope the fingers repair quickly -- Julian

Hey Dennis ! with all your experience you should know better than that. Glad the damage is not too bad and that the bowl wasn't damaged either.

Thread: Where to get planer drive belt
09/06/2014 11:36:42

Hi Michael and welcome to the forum. I don't know where you are but I should try looking on the interweb for a local bearing supplier and contact them, most will also supply drive belts of any design, shape or size. My local one is called antifriction components. Hope you get sorted out soon. -- Julian

You can get some nice little light boxes on the net at a very good price click here

The results are very good, it has been suggested to me to use the modern low energy bulbs and use the box as the defuser and yes no flash.

Thread: First Hand Made Project

Hi Gareth -- Thanks for posting the picture, a very good first attempt. You will always remember your first project especially one that has had a lot of time taken over it to get the details right. I must admire you though for being allowed to set up a workshop in your living room and not a shaving in sight devil --- Julian
