this is my latest hollow form and is turned to a wall thickness of about 3mm. the hole started of as just a small powdery area but as I hollowed it out It just got bigger as the decay was in the wood.dscf5216.jpgdscf5215.jpgdscf5211.jpgdscf5213.jpg

after turning the hollow form yesterday I had to get on with the finial to finish it of. what a bad night I had tonight trying to getting the finial completed. eventually I got there not fully happy with it as I had to spray it black and as you do you touch it to soon so had to start again. sanded down and then left a loan. all comments welcome.dscf5207.jpgdscf5199.jpgdscf5198.jpg

well Mark no problem about re doing it I was anyway. that is why I put the rings in the base to disguise the joint. this is one from Mark Sanger's book. turning hollow forms. here are the before and after photos from re finishing the form tonight after a 12hr shift at work that is.dscf5187.jpgdscf5192.jpgdscf5190.jpg

thank you Mark for your comments. no no pixie's. as for the turning of the inside I went in through the bottom and plugged it with a part from the bottom when turning the chucking point. the marks on the side are sanding marks that when in the shed I never seen but under photo flash it showed up. will be sanding it of and finishing it better tonight. will post the final photo after finishing.

this form is influenced by Mark Sange .this form is probably the hardest I have attempted. the form is 5x3 with a 3/4 hole. the wall thickness in places is about 2 to 3 mm wall. this is finished with sand sealer and baby oil. all comments welcome.dscf5186.jpgdscf5187.jpgdscf5188.jpgdscf5189.jpg
