Brian,
Lovely piece of craftmanship. Is this an oiled finish ?
Just used Balck Walnut for the first time. Gives an excellent contrast to the range of oaks available too.

Marc,
Only just seen the posting, sorry for the late reposne.
The main stand is made from english oak and the box from recycled english oak floorboards.
Finish is a simple ronseal hardglaze gloss (4 coats) as this needs to be transported frequently
Hope this helps

Thread: Christmas Wreath |

Gentlemen,
The main base and ring are from recycled english oak floor boards (excellent source), the support wings are in canadian maple and the brass is made from......brass !
The loose tongues are indeed in Sapele.
Joints formed on table saw to get grooves and each tongue made to fit.
A couple of novel jigs later and all grooves made in upper ring and base for the suport wings.
Advent Wreath 2 now in the making and progress photos have been uploaded onto the forum
Thanks,
Matt |
Thread: Matt's Advent Wreath |

Guys,
Thanks for the comments. The piece was collected last evening by the salvation army officer for Enfield.
The candles being used are three purple ones, one pink one and a large white one in the middle.
I now have a commission from my wife to produce a more contemporary one for the house !
I will be under way with it this weekend and will post progress photos as i go along.
I will try and get some of this ring with the candles in place
The grooves for the loose tongues were formed using my table saw and flipping the edges to get the groove centred. Lots of novel jigs too. A joy to work on

Hi,
Does anyone out there have an idiots guide on how to set up and start using the above. It is not the D4R but its predecesor.
I cant find my original video and find it easier to watch how its done then get on with it rather than plough through the excellent manual
Any help would be appreciated

Hi all.
I am making a carry box and am in need of a couple of offcuts of solid oak floorbaording to plane down for my box material.
Could do with four pieces 190 wide x 750 long
Has anyone got some they are willing to part with at all ?
Willing to travel within reason to pick up
