Well done Simon, I can imagine just how hard it must have been to turn the inside. That large hole near the base must have been really difficult . You have done a superb job and I'm sure your friends are delighted. Congrats.

Very nice work Mailee. Somehow I can't imagine you just standing about idle! It's great to find that you have wood left over from previous jobs to use.

Hi Wendy, welcome, it would appear that you have most of the forum stumped with your question! I am afraid that I can be of no help either. I can only suggest that as Derek says, sand them down to bare wood and start from there. Good luck

Thank you Julian, I found it was easier to turn the pawns by cutting several bits of hardboard with the diameters of each section, the ball on the top, the collar, the top of the column, the column base and the base. They were turned quite quickly to size and then it was just a matter of refining them.

1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpgHi there, at long last I have finished the chessmen, they can be tricky. After turning they were all drilled out and .45 and.38 lead was added to give them a bit of extra weight. I seriously thought I would never get them done!
