|Thread: Dead bandsaw|
Hi Julian, Thank you for your health & safety input. As you probably read at the beginning of this saga the motor is dead, it doesn't work. There was no chance of danger.
I must take this opportunity to thank all the contributors, Ron, Ryan, Sad Sam and Julian, most helpful.
I took the motor to a specialist ... The diagnosis was that the thermal cut out within the winding had done its job and burnt out (this can be easily replaced, by people who know what they are doing, on this model without having the motor re-wound) and the capacitor was also duly fried. Both replaced by the pros at
SpinneyRewinds Ltd (spinneyrewinds.com). Excellent service at this family firm.
Motor now works thanks for all your help
Thanks Ron &Ryan. No problems when turning lower wheel and unfortunately the bandsaw is well over 5years old. The capacitor sounds like a likely candidate though. I will get that checked out tomorrow.
Thanks sad Sam, unfortunately not a cut in the cable, but certainly worth looking for
Record 300 bandsaw working well then slowed and stopped. Blade has free movement, not damaged. Is it the motor? It did take a few seconds to get upto speed before it died. Any ideas?
