The Canadian company, Veritas Tools, is a world leader in woodworking tool product research, development and manufacturing with over 500 tools in production. This autumn Vic Tesolin, Technical Advisor and one of their top demonstrators will be appearing at some of the biggest shows across Ireland and the UK which should come as ‘music to the ears’ of hand tool enthusiasts this side of the pond.

Vic hasn’t taken the traditional route to becoming a woodworking and hand tool expert. His first 14 years of work were spent in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. After leaving the army, Vic studied furniture making and design at Rosewood Studios under some of North America’s most talented furniture makers. At Rosewood he became a part-time instructor and craftsman-in-residence while running his own studio furniture business. He later worked as editor of Canadian Woodworking and Home Improvement magazine. Vic is currently the Technical Advisor at Lee Valley and Veritas Tools, where he works alongside designers in the development of new products, creates online videos of Veritas tools and teaches woodworking techniques to staff and customers.

During Vic’s tour he will demonstrate the innovative Veritas PM-V11, Veritas's superb new tool steel which has superior edge retention compared to 01 and A2 without requiring specialised sharpening media. It is the perfect example of the company’s dedication to innovation. Vic will showcase new tools including the first European look at the new shooting plane, cabinetmaker’s trimming plane and fast-action bench hold-down.

An accomplished woodworker in his own right, Vic is new to the Irish and UK woodworking scene, but can be seen on Veritas’s video clips on YouTube
