The Rexon is an unusual
machine, with a couple of
features rarely found on
a bandsaw. It's a nicely-styled
machine which sits securely
on its widely-splayed base. A
fl oor stand is available as an
accessory. The main body is
steel, with a plastic access
door. On the top is a simple
blade tension knob, with the
tracking adjustment on the
back panel.
The blade guides are made
from square-section steel
bars and there's a roller thrust
bearing. The upper blade
guard is operated by a rackand-
pinion knob on the back,
making it easy to set.
The worktable is alloy and
also has a rack-and-pinion
system on the mounting
bracket, allowing it to be tilted
to 45°. It's fi tted with a rip
fence and a small mitre fence
and also has a useful side
extension which doubles as an
extended rip fence, giving a rip
capacity of 315mm.
Above the table is a flexible
blower pipe, similar to those
found on fretsaws, which
produces a jet of air to keep
the cutting line clear. It's driven
by a small pump mounted on
the back of the motor.
The BS2301A is a competent
performer, and the blade
supplied s surprisingly good
and cuts accurately. The
table extension offers good
workpiece support, and the
little blower helps keep the
cutting line clear. There's also
a dust extraction port built into
the base of the main casing.
