Big power in a small package

    AEG drill driver
We'll be testing this new driver in The Woodworker magazine soon, so if you want to read an independent review, be sure to catch it in WW ~ BP

    Here's the latest from AEG:

AEG has unveiled the latest power tool in its recently relaunched range - the Ultra Compact 12v Drill Driver (BS12C). Bursting with power and outshining any tool in its class, the multi-talented BS 12C has not only been designed for high performance, but the compact size of the tool means that it can be used in confined areas.

Out performing the competition on every test, the compact Drill Driver retails at £99.99 (SSP), not only offering value for money, but also giving users the longest run time, strength and best performance of any 12v drill driver currently available on the market.

Boasting the longest battery service life of any tool in its category, the AEG BS 12C is powered by a 12v (1.5 Ah) lithium-ion battery, and weighs just 1.1kg. After one battery charge, the compact tool can screw 140 5 x 60mm screws into soft wood. This is 20 per cent more than its competitors.

The maximum torque of 18.5 Nm is also the highest in this class. Thanks to 18-step coupling, the right torque can always be set for the individual screw size. With a maximum drilling capacity of 10mm in metal and 20mm in wood, the variable speed control ensures full control over the utilized screwing force during drilling and screwing.

The 12v Ultra Compact Drill Driver comes complete with a carrying case, two 12v (1.5 Ah) lithium-ion batteries and a 30-minute charger. Other key features of this small powerhouse include a built in LED for illumination of dark work spots and a softgrip handle for secure grip and work surface protection. It also features a one sleeve keyless chuck for quick bit change with one hand, metal gear housing for long tool life and a forward/reverse option for effective screw driving.

Attractively priced and engineered for exceptional reliability and durability, the innovative cordless tool is suited to a variety of tasks, and offers users the added confidence with a three-year warranty.

To date, AEG has launched 48 new corded and cordless tools onto the market, with further products being unveiled throughout 2008 and beyond.
