Visitors can watch at close quarters and converse with the artists and crafters who will freely share their knowledge. Have a go yourself in the hugely popular practical classes.

Artists are chosen on merit, entry is by invitation. Artists are given space to work; free from commercial pressure they can relax, enjoy working, and meet visitors. Art works are for sale, often directly from the artist.

Back in 1977 when Art in Action began, the idea was still new, 51 artists and musicians took part in the first Art in Action and 14,000 visitors arrived. Today Art in Action welcomes approximately 25,000 people over four days. Visitors come to learn, buy and enjoy the exhibitions, classes and performances.
