Hi there thankyou for your comments the s palted box was binned more than once it is so punky I ended up using a lot of super glue on it it takes a better photo than it really looks

The other box I know what you are saying derek I have since put some felt under the draw

The oil I've used is just known as as finishing oil that I buy from my woodturning club

I'm glad you mentioned putting wax on after oiling it I have not tried that put may do i have just finished a similar piece if just oiled it about an hour ago so if I'm not happy with it I will try your method and wax it

Hi derek cheers do not know how to turn them i was waiting for my grandson to do it

Thanks for the comments I did not mean to put the bowl on it was a nightmare to do far to rotten

I bought three pieces of ebay for £23 and they have all been like it

I have one piece left it is 8×10" square so I am going to make a bandsaw box and hope for the best

Cheers Gerald I remember seeing one when very little and sat on it thinking I was a cowboy I would not get of it

Then many years later I visited Preston park near Stockton teesside and wandered round there Victoria street and found a working rocking horse maker and that was it I was hooked

It is still making horses even now

Hi all

This bowl is made from ash for the bowl and a yew lid with some sort of root may be yew for the financial

I'm not sure this works the lid was also meant to be ash but I went through the bottom

Swore a bit and had to make do with what I had

All comments accepted

It is 6ins diameter and owns to the tip of the finniel
