For Tropical woods go to www.panda.org under the "what we do" list click" forests", then click "what you do" then click "know your wood".

Contains info on over 275 commercial woods with coloured illustrations very interesting, i use it as a reference, it includes Pine, got it as a Birthday present many years ago,

You may also like to look at the web site for SL Hardwoods.  Their catalogue can be downloaded and although the images are fairly small the reproduction is OK.

well no exotic hardwood as was told but 9" x 3" softwood at least 12' long told can have as much as i like got to go back and pick it up when clear to get to it sure i could make use of that
