Remembering something from way back, I have frozen my 8 or 10 year old deWalt drill battery for a few days in an attempt to revive it a bit........and now I can't remember what to do next! Do I immediately recharge it from frozen, or do I let it thaw first? Mike

I haven't a clue Mike but given it's age I reckon you have had your moneys worth! Splash out and buy a new one. Richard

Have to admit i was thinking the same as Richard, Mike. Treat yourself to a lithium ion cordless, you wont regret it. Baz

Tight-fisted? Skinflint? Me????? Surely not?!!!!!! No, it is a brilliant drill, for which I paid a fortune, and the only problem is that the batteries only hold their charge for a short time now. I'll gamble, I think, and recharge straight from frozen....unless someone says not to in the next 5 minutes! Mike

I`ve had mine re-packed before at County Battery, not 18v though. They may do them though. Or there`s always e-bay, i`ve picked up some batteries quite cheaply there. The thing with freezing & the like, is it`s only a short fix, the cells are degraded, so need re-placing.

.jpg) I've also picked up some cheap DeWalt batteries in the past (9.6v and 12v) for my old drills and they work fine, no problems at all. I'm not going to be using them day-in, day-out but they're good for me. Just watch out for the postal charges if you do go down that route!

Mike, Just seen this, my post about batteries, I,ve had some very good feedback in my inbox about the success of others with their freexing, and i've done it, Freeze for 24 hours, thaw naturally and then charge, if it doesn't work then nothing will. Derek.

Derek, I did one where I froze it for a couple of days then recharged straight away, and another one where I froze it for a couple of days, then allowed it to thaw before charging. I'll let you know if one works better than the other. Mike
