hi everyone i have just setup a dust extraction system ysing 100ml soil pipe with 3 blast gates to planer/thicknessar,routertable and bandsaw there seems to be a lack of suction from the recordpower rsde1 dust extractor as the extractor is 23 foot away from the planer been in touch with record power and they said its powerfull enough but its like bingo balls rolling around going nowhere i asked record power if i ashould purchase a record dx4000 twich the suction because it has got 2 moters seems to me i have been give bad advise because i was going to buy the dx4000 first but instead i bought the record router table i wish i had gone with my instincts and bought the dx4000 and now im stuck with a useless piece of equpment which im not geting the full benifit what would you do ????

Could you not fit the extractor in the middle of the pipe run ?

Just looked up the rsde1, it looks more like a shop vac than an extractor. More suited to power tools than machines.

I`m not saying it wouldn`t extract if hooked up to a machine by a short hose, but it wouldn`t be my choice for a 4" piped system with blast gates. If nothing else it would be full in no time.

I`d use this rsde1 on a 65mm ducted HPLV system, & get a stand alone LPHV extractor for your 110mm ducted system.

hi all  today was a bad day, gave up with my extraction system as it failed to work after lots of alterations and additions not proven to be viable. Anybody any experience with 100mm extraction systems 27ft length would love to hear how you set it up and which extractor you use. Any comments greatly appreciated. Dave

    Dauid,

Axminster do a few very good extractors, i would suggest you give them a ring, ask to speak to their technical department, tell them your requirements, & i`m sure they will suggest a suitable extractor.

The most important thing when planning an extraction system is to understand the difference between the 2 types of extraction, high pressure low volume & low pressure high volume. Knowing what each can & can`t do is the most important thing.

An excellent book is >here< . This is the book i referred to when designing my extraction system.

    Good luck.

I have a system using 100mm soil pipe which leads outside ( to reduce the noise in the studio) to a 1600w Taiwanese industrial extractor. It works well for general use, slurps up shavings but for power tool extraction I use a HPLV machine (Bosch). All the piping has a copper earth wire running through it. Dust can be explosive. I notice that where the earthing ends though that static builds up and attracts any airborne dust.

Hope you get your system sorted out. Clean air is like a good wine - eminently enjoyable and heartily healthy!
