So, back on the router table this weekend and I finally got the router mounted on the plate and into it's recess on the tables surface. OK so far. Came back to it after a few hours and it had pulled the centre of the table down into a slight concave! So I have now added some gussets to the under side ( see photo ). The material I have used is 3/4" / 19 mm birch ply; however the actual thickness of the board is in fact 17 mm! Is this the norm? Or have I in fact been supplied 17 mm? Does this exist?

Baz. Sander seal ? Must say I have never used this product, should it be available from a professional painter & decorators supplier? As for the wax a few years ago my old neighbour who was a joiner, gave my a jar of bees wax, would this be suitable ?

    NIgel,

Sanding sealer comes in different recipes, I always use spirit s.s. which is a diluted shellac, purchased from Relics, www. try relics ,co.uk, or Axmister, or any of your usual finishing suppliers, as for the beeswax, there is no finer polish.

    Derek.

    Hi all

I have now obtained a bottle of Mylands 2000 pale shellac! Question is, how does one apply this, and how long does it take to dry before i can apply the wax? Unfortunatly it came with no product sheet.

     Thanks, Nigel

Now I fitted the extension piece to router  and can change cutters without removing router from table, so I have now mounted the insert with the fixings supplied. Now when I want to remove router for free hand work I simply un-screw the Three retaining screws .
