    Ercol that smells!

I have just inherited an ercol sideboard, and it smells really sour. I don't think that it's damp or mold of any kind. Maybe it's years of polish? Does anyone have any idea how to stop it from smelling?

    Thanks for your tips

I'm not 100% sure but I think putting moth balls inside the unit may help to dsguise some of the smell?

Welcome to the site, you don't say if the smell is inside or outside, perhaps if you wipe it all over with a solution of bycarbinate of soda like you would a fridge, if it is any thing bacterial it might help, leave all the door open and take out the drawers, only use a damp cloth, I don't think polish goes sour, it must be from some form of contamination, we have had our Ercol sideboard for over fourty years and there is no sign of any sour smell,

    George
