For Tropical woods go to www.panda.org under the "what we do" list click" forests", then click "what you do" then click "know your wood".

Hope this is of some use.

    Baz.

Hi! Derek, I have a book "World Woods in Colour" by William A Lincoln,

Published in 1986 by Stobart & Son Ltd,

                                       67-73 Worship Street,

                                       London,

                                       EC2A  2EL,

    No phone number,

Contains info on over 275 commercial woods with coloured illustrations very interesting, i use it as a reference, it includes Pine, got it as a Birthday present many years ago,

You might be ably to get a copy,

    Take Care,

    Ivor.

Try - http://www.thewoodexplorer.com This is an American site (but what isn't?).

You may also like to look at the web site for SL Hardwoods.  Their catalogue can be downloaded and although the images are fairly small the reproduction is OK.
