Hi, I'm Nearing the end of building my new workshop and have purchased machines from the Italian company Damatomacchine advertised inThe woodworker magazine. The tools have arrived and I have been trying them out. I bought the Discovery 260/7" which is a 5 function saw/ planer/thicknesser etc. a DM2 dust collector and a wood lathe with copying attachment all for around £1300. That includes shipping to my door. Has anybody else thought about buying any of these machines? I can vouch for their solid cast iron build and promp srvice from Damtomacchine.

Thanks for that John. I couldnt even get one of those in my triangular 10' x 12' shed, not after a bench, router table and a few drawers  Sound a great piece of kit though.

Hi Sparky, Thanks for your reply,my workshop is 20ftx9ft. so I can see you would have a space problem. Before building the workshop I used my garage and that was a real pain removing the car,setting up the saw or router table then cleaning up and sweeping to replace the car for the night. Now I've retired I've been able to spend time building a proper workshop at the end of the garden and it's insulated and double glazed for comfort.

Sounds great John.......I wish we had a larger garden so I could do something the same.....my shed just fits in the garden!  Oneday that lottery will pay up...................just have to do it first

making £10 a minute in interest...........waste of time winning such amounts of money, once your bought your dreams, you don't have any more. I win a £1 every week........I dont play it

I only buy a couple of tickets for the big one towards the end,to win it you have to be in it.

.jpg) with the money i save (because when i did it never won) i could kit out the workshop even £1 a week £52 a year how many years has it been running you could still buy a good bit of kit but if you enjoy it good luck to you all

 It doesn`t matter how much money you`ve got, i`ve never met a woodworker with enough space in his workshop. There`s always just one more toy to buy, then you need a bigger place. Just think of the headache if you had millions you would spend more time buying then having to build bigger workshops you would never get anything made. Sparkys right if i had everything i wanted, i wouldn`t have anything to fall to sleep dreaming about. Baz.

John, I bought my disco 260/7 direct from Italy and it cost 1,166.00 euros.Shipping to my door cost 92.00 euros.There were no other charges,like import duty etc.It's a solid machine with cast iron tables.I'm using mine at the moment to plane up 6 1" solid mahogany boards 10" wide, 10ft. long. Because of the weight I have marked them close to size and cut the length down.Width is max. possible on this machine 101/4" .If You want to see the machine and have a try let me know. John kinch

Hi Guys If you want to phone Italy or anywhere overseas for that matter I can reccoment TeleDiscount. I use it every week to phone my Daughters in the USA the cost 1p per min. On the question about space in the workshop. I have plenty and I can get all the machines in with no trouble. The problem comes when I try to do some work. There is no room for the job. Roger

 Roger, We have everything with Talk Talk our phone costs us £10:00 per month and then all calls whether national or international are then free, the call is limited to one hour each time, but call back can be done, and the hour my controller spends on it, believe me, it is worth every penny, and we have relatives in Germany, the States, and New Zealand. Hi Derek You have a very good deal with Talk Talk All the good deals I have come accross so far have been inclusive of local and national calls. But exclude non geographical and international. We used to be with Onetel but they were bought up into Car phone warehouse along with your provider and then became non customer friendly. Customer "non" service went to an Indian call centre. so we migrated. I refuse to deal with companies who outsource to India. I believe we should support workers at home. Sorry I was geting on my soapbox Anyway Telediscount I find is great. You dont change providers you dial an access code and the call is billed at 1p or whatever the cost is, on your normal phone bill. A realy good system. Roger
