I've got a magnet tip too: if you put a magnet on the casing of your bench grinder, you'll be amazed by the quantity of iron filings it collects......helping to keep the area clean.
Sorry for taking so long to respond about the lapping film after you so kindly sent me a sheet.
I've been swamped with work recently, but had chance this afternoon to try it out.
It cuts fast! Whipped an of old 1" chisel into shape in no time. I'm interested to see how long it will last as past experience with wet and dry, they tended to need changing often.
I dont have experience of course waterstones I'm afraid so I cannot offer a comparison on that. I have had good results with the 1000/6000 grit waterstone I have and to that end would probably pickup a 240 grit stone at some point. I find wet and dry sheets a bit messy and need replacing often, so this lapping film certainly offers an interesting alternative.
Thanks once again for sending the sheet to try out.
