    Hi, just joined first thread.

Can anybody advise where in the UK, if anywhere! that  I can get hold of a fixed base router.  I want to use it on a Leigh superjig, at the moment I'm using a Trend T11 which is well capable but not the easiest on adjustments with a dove tail bit fitted through the guide bush.  Its quite awkward reaching the collet with a spanner with the bit set for depth of cut.  A local woodworking store says he remembers an article in Good  Woodworking magazine a year or so ago about a company bringing over Milwaukee and Porter Cable units, does anybody remember this?  The prices on the net for the mentioned units and DeWalt in the States even with the carriage and a transformer are attractive but are they available in the UK at a comparative price?

Hi Smiffy, welcome to the forum.

Two models spring to mind; The Bosch GMF1400CE and the Makita 3601B fixed base router.

I use a DeWalt 621K with my Leigh Superjig – works a treat.

    Best of luck,

    Ben

I owned a makita 3601b years ago, brilliant machine with a 1/2" colett. I would definitely recommend it.

    Hi Smiffy,

Axminster is the place i got the Bosch GMF1400CE, it is not cheap but it really is a superb tool. Also if using with Leigh its worth investing in a guide bush adapter to use the American style 1.3/8" threaded guide bushes which really do aid accuracy.
