If I can work out how to post a link, I will send you to a site which contains the most incredible woodwork you can imagine. I saw "Split Personality" in the Art Gallery of West Australia about 10 or 15 years ago.........and stared at it for so long that secuity came and asked me to move along. Ben.....these are images I would put forward for the "Inspirations" gallery. Please, have a look. You will be astounded. Mike Split personalityGun Runner

Wasn't there a similar bike at Ally Pally this year? Those are incredible works of art though! Plenty of man hours went into them I bet!!!!
4000 hours on Gun Runner, apparently.
Surely this has amazed someone else!??
Its amazing, so complex must be prety dedicated to achieve ! don't think i would have the patients.

I must admit Mike, they sure are awesome works of art. I think I saw this guy (Michael Cooper) when he did graphic design (computer artwork) when I was doing it. He made the plan of the Gunrunner in 3D with all the textures and I never saw him again..........until now, thanks for the links my friend.

Marc, that is the second post from you that looks as though it should have an image attached but actually just has "http:// img......etc". Clicking on it does nothing. Michael Cooper's brilliant work reminds me of 1970's album covers......! How on earth do you think he forms those twisting "tubes" of wood, so perfectly round and immaculately finished? One of you turners might explain how he forms the springs. And what about the wheels...aren't they just beautiful? When I stood looking at "Split Personality" in the art gallery in Perth it was the chain that I couldn't stop looking at: each link is made up of at least 5 or 6 pieces, all tiny, and all just spot-on. Gun Runner has four wheel drive that looks as though it should work......This man is a genius! Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant....... Mike

Your previous post on this topic, Marc (yesterday 22.23pm), as well as on "hello from Israel" on 27.4.'08 at 21.35pm

Ah, thanks for that Mike. I'll go and sort it, don't want to look unprofessional do I!
Sorry Mike I can only edit before someone replies. The image was a link to of Uri's computer table.
Does anyone have a pic of that bike that was at the Ally Pally international show this year? I am sure it was near the guy with the old traditional lathe...
I'm going to keep sending this to the top of the pile for days......I'm looking for additional images to add, and only when every visitor to the site acknowledges Mike Cooper's genius will I give up!!!!! Just kidding..... Mike
Oh go on Mike, one more time
Here it goes, back to the top of the pile! Repeat after me......."Mike Cooper is a genius".
Ben, can you grab these images and put them in the "Inspirations" gallery? Mike
Back to the top of the pile he goes again! If he was English, he'd deserve a knighthood.
 I'm not giving up!

The Art Gallery of West Australia has just responded to my request for further images of "Split Personality" by offering to send me black & white photocopies of some slide images they have........requested payment for the privilege......and sent a long form for me to fill in before they would release the images!!!! Perth is the most isolated city in the whole world. They happen to have one of the most amazing pieces of woodwork in the world, and there is only one publicly available image of it. I consider their attitude to be selfish in the extreme. Mike

 Hi Mike,
I would need to get the OK from the owner of the pics first because of potential copyright issues.
