I'm still having no success at uploading a personal picture to accompany my postings. I've followed procedures carefully and it meets size requirements etc. Am I the only one?

no your not, as I too have been unable to upload a personal picture, even though I have made sure that my picture meets all requirements.

Hi guys, thanks for bringing this up.

I've looked into it this morning and there was a technical issue which has now been resolved. You should see your personal pics to the left of your forum posts from now on...

I like to see articles on sharpening woodturning tools, gringers , jigs etc. Cheers.

Regarding personal "snap", I cannot upload despite fulfilling all criteria.  Suggestions please as I would like my mugshot on the Forum!!!!

I remember having days of trouble until I ignored the instruction about the pixel size of the image. The important limit is the over-all file size.

I can get a picture to the right pixel size, but whatever I do, it saves at above the kb size, so it won't upload. I use Photoshop a lot, and whilst no expert, I never have this problem anywhere else. Shrinking a picture too much just fuzzes it out completely, so there is something I am not doing right, as I see others with acceptable profile pics.

I'll give your approach a try Mike!

    Cheers

I just solved it for myself, but I had to save the picture in 'Compuserve' GIF format, in order to get the KB size down. I don't know what the results are yet, but I have a supicion the pic might be fuzzed, which is great news for you guys, who have to look at my mug!  Thinking about it, this smiley would be about right!

    Woodchip,

Try using the download PIXRESIZER that I put on here, the full download and instructions for use are in my posts, it is the simplest thing you can find.

    Derek et al

Tried the Pixresizer and I think it has worked.  I may change the image once I have looked at it.

    John,

    Glad to be of assistance.

    derek.

    Thanks again Derek.

But the resizing didn't make any difference. My pic is still distorted. Somehow I must have pressed a wrong button, because there's nothing  out of kilter in Photoshop.

I'll keep plugging away 'til I get it.

    Cheers

Are you sure that you are maintaining the size relationship.  That is, if you alter the size of,say the height, then the width will adjust accordingly.

    Hi John,

Thanks for that.. yes, I am retaining size realtionship. I thought that would just happen but it hasn't altered anything!

    I will keep trying!

    Thanks again.

I  have given up trying to post pictures in 'My Gallery'.

I just cannot get the pictures small enough to meet requirements, in either jpg or gif format. If Photoshop can't do it, what program will? When reduced, my images look more like pixellated thumbnails in a catalogue, which defeats the object. The forum needs to have a better way of uploading pictures than this. And the profile pic procedure is no better.
