No doubt you will all tell me I'm wrong, and that the Titebond pva glue I am now using is rubbish. I wish to say that it is the finest adhesive I have used so far, I had a few disasters lately, in that unknown to me my pva glue had been got at by the frost, it worked and did the job, but after a short while it all came apart. As I was ordering from Axminster i thought I would try this Titebond, is is far stickiier, sets in a very short time, appears to be very strong  and is easy to clean up. I can only say how delighted and satisfied I am with it, and I have tried most of the usual pva glues.

    Hi Derek,

I swear by Titebond. I've been using it since 1993 and I would need a lot of persuasion to use anything else. I do tend to use Titebond III most of the time though, a few pennies more with the same characteristics as Titebond II but waterproof ~ one glue does all ~ perfect!

Ben, This was the only one and the only type they had when I needed glue desparately, but I have no regrets.

    derek.

I am about to order the Titebond PU with 20 minute open time......anybody tried that?

I've got a bottle here Mike, but have only use it a couple of times. So far, so good.

    Mike,

Just been using PU glue today, damned stuff, got a bit on my apron, it ended up everywhere must have used a half pint of cellulose thinners to clean up.

Been making a pair of gates for a neighbour, (one time I had to buy some timber). cut the mortises with my router jig, and the tenons on the table, all so very simple to do.

Welcome to the PU club! Sod's law dictates that whenever you are due to :-

    1. Go on a date
    2. Meet the other half's boss
    3. Attend a dinner & dance
    4. Need to remove contact lenses

You will have to use PU glue and run out of cleaning fluid and gloves and get covered in the stuff. Grrrr!

I have had to do a presentation of a scheme to a client with hands blackened by PU!!! This is in the same league as having grease under your fingernails at a dinner party!!!

    Mike

    .......I still love the stuff!

What`s wrong with grease under your finger nails, goes to show you know how to work.

My best friends a mechanic, whos hands are permanently black, watching him eat a curry with a nan bread, is enough to put you off your own curry.

I just don`t sit opposite him anymore.

    Cheers Baz.

    Baz,

I've always meant to ask you......what are those two things you are peering through in your picutre (is it called an avatar?)? They look carved, whatever they are....how about a full-sized picture in the gallery?

    Mike

i wander if it is called licquid nails here in Canada, it glues any thing and and don't come apart once used
    Show/hide user stats
Liquid Nails over here is a general purpose builder's adhesive and gap filler........say for sticking plasterboard to blockwork......only available in silicon-type tubes for use in a "gun"....and completely unsuitable for joinery.
    Show/hide user stats

You can get PU glue in a silicon type tube, not sure what it`s called.

I`ve seen American shows that have shown different types of wood glue in tubes, used with a skeleton gun, must be the way they like it over the pond.
